Conclusion questions

1. In as much detail as possible record the steps it took to complete this project. Start with photographing and end with the editing process in photoshop. Use complete sentences.

- I first started by mounting my camera on a tripod to keep the camera steady and prevent myself from taking pictures of two different backgrounds. I then took a picture of my classmates posing with the props and tell them to move to the side so I can take a clear steady picture of the background. After taking all my pictures, I hop on photoshop and downloaded my pictures to my drive and selected a new file, clicked scripts, and load the files into a stack. I then started working with layers, started with selecting multiple pictures by holding the command key, and clicking the "attempt to automatically align source images" to align both of my pictures. I layered mask the photography of my classmate and made sure it was at the top of my layers. I then use the paintbrush tool using black and white paint. the paintbrush tool helped me a lot as the black paint made parts of my photography disappear and the white paint recovered mistakes. After completing my photographs, I then saved them onto my computer as JPEG and downloaded them into my website.

2. What are layer masks? How do they differ from just using the eraser tool in photoshop? How might you use them in the future to create more projects in photoshop?

- The eraser tool permanently deletes specific areas of an image. The layering mask simply hides those areas from view. I will use a layering mask more often in the future when I want to erase something from an image but don't want to put in all the extra work with the eraser tool.

3. Do you believe your project was (successful/ unsuccessful). Why?

- This project was successful because it was fast and simple due to incorporating my knowledge of photoshop with my past projects. Not only it made it fast but I just proved to myself that I am getting to my goal of mastering layer mask.

4. Based on the learning target, " Practice and demonstrate skills in the manipulation of digital imagery by using photoshop to create a composite image" what level of mastery does your project demonstrate (Exceeds, Meets, Needs Work, minimal understanding)? Why do you think? Make sure to provide specific evidence.

- I believe that my skills have met the standard, but I still have some skills and knowledge to master as well as a couple of trials and errors when I am using photoshop. I still tend to miss some steps and forget some knowledge when I am struggling with photoshopping. I would want to master layering masks by the end of this semester and exceed on them on our next project.
